Blatchford District Energy Sharing System Wins Two International Awards!

UPDATE: Blatchford wins Outstanding Project of the Year Award

In addition to winning an Award of Merit at the 2023 Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) Project Awards back in August, Blatchford’s Neighbourhood District Energy System – Phase 1 has also won the title of FIDIC’s Outstanding Project of the Year Award 2023 in the Small Project Category.

The Blatchford District Energy System, in partnership with Associated Engineering, has won another award! Back in November 2022, the project won two Canadian Consulting Engineering Awards and this time, the system is being recognized at the international level with an Award of Merit by the International Federation of Consulting Engineers.

FIDIC is the global representative body for national associations of consulting engineers and represents over one million engineering professionals and 40,000 firms in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Each year, FIDIC recognizes projects submitted by consulting engineering firms based on the important impact their projects have on social, economic and environmental quality of life around the world. The winning projects also support the United Nations sustainable development goals.

This year, Blatchford’s District Energy System was identified as one of 30 projects that met this criteria for an Awards of Merit. The shortlisted projects come from countries around the world, including Australia, Botswana, Canada, China, Croatia, France, Ireland, Mozambique, Philippines, Singapore, Somalia, South Korea, United States and Vietnam. Of these 30 projects, 16 will be selected to win an Award of Excellence at a gala event in Singapore on Tuesday, September 12. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that Associated Engineering, our engineering partners who designed Blatchford’s district energy sharing system, will bring home another award in September.
