Summer Community Update

Community Development Update

Like any new neighbourhood in Edmonton being built from the ground up, the Blatchford community will be developed in multiple stages. And while the very wet June weather put a damper on the spring construction season, our crews are gearing up to finish their work in the first two stages and start work on the next two stages of development.

The details:

  • The first four stages in the community include 33 parcels of land, including fee-simple townhouse blocks, multi-family townhouses and 4-6 storey buildings. All of this land is either already sold or pending sale with home builders!
  • While our home builders determine the exact number of units for their buildings on the multi-family land, we anticipate these first four stages will include approximately 1,100 townhomes and condo/apartment units.
  • The entire community will be home to 30,000 people in approximately 11,000-12,000 units over the 536 acre site.

Take a look at the map below to see how Blatchford is shaping up to grow with the additional stages:

Blatchford Community Grand Opening

Last month, we officially celebrated the grand opening of Blatchford. Blatchford is about connections, so we were excited to have the opportunity to meet up with new and familiar faces, our residents and other community partners at the event.

Hundreds of visitors came to tour the neighbourhood and the showhomes and stayed to enjoy the live music, games, food trucks and beer garden.

It was great to see folks out in the neighbourhood learning about the City’s vision to build a community that will be home to up to 30,000 Edmontonians living, working and learning sustainably.

Stay tuned to our newsletter and social channels for more community events to come.

LRT Construction Update

The Metro Line Northwest LRT will provide reliable and accessible transportation, connecting people to and from the community of Blatchford. The line will extend from downtown to Blatchford, and in the future, into the north and northwest areas of the city.

Here’s the latest Blatchford Metro Line LRT construction news from the City of Edmonton!

Work continues on the construction of the LRT trackway this year. The trackway is expected to be completed in 2022 with the rail installation continuing into 2023.

This summer, station shelters and solar panels for the station canopies will be installed, contributing to the goal of achieving net zero carbon status in the stations. Work will also continue on the utility complexes that will power the LRT system. The exterior structure of the NAIT utility complex has been completed and the exterior structure of the Blatchford utility complex is expected to be completed by the end of summer.
